Is the Singapore courtesy campaign serves no purpose anymore? Or Singaporeans just plain kiasu?
Why do I say that?
Lately been encountering, as well as seen with my own eyes that some kind of situation is happening.
Take for instance, I had to travel back hall by train after a meeting. City Hall MRT station is an interchange between the east-west line and north-south line. This means that there'll bound to be alot of people alighting, and theoretically, we are supposed to let passengers alight before boarding, right?
Well, I did, but not a lady behind me. She kept pushing me to board the train even before majority of the passengers alighted, and I mean MAJORITY. She's like fighting to go in before the door closes right at that moment.
After that, she got a seat opposite me and throughout the entire journey, her face expression was like "the-whole-world-owes-me-money" face, frowning all the time.
She's not the only person who will actually rush to board the train. Alot of other people I have seen are doing that too. They are really so afraid that the door may just close on them right after it just opened.
Not just that, for passengers who are alighting, a few minutes before the train stops at their destination, they have already gotten up from their seats or positions to stand at the door. They do this so that they can be the first to get out. If the train is crowded, I can understand the situation, but it is not!
WHAT IS WRONG WITH SINGAPOREANS?
Are we just plain 'kiasu' or have we thrown our manners away?
