You know it is Chinese New Year when:
1) There are a lot of people in supermarkets, markets even during off-peak hours (non-marketing hours).
2) Supermarkets start to replenish a lot of their supplies.
3) Prices of fish, poultry, red meat, vegetables start to raise higher as usual.
4) Provision shops, supermarkets build temporary tents outside their shops.
5) Confectionery shops start to bake new year cookies and when it's fresh out from the oven, and you want to buy, the shop owner tells you it's been reserved.
6) More people start to rent cars.
7) Singaporeans dressed up super nice than ordinary days,
8) You see a lot of people wearing red, much more than you can see during National Day.
9) A huge number of Banglas hang around everywhere, and buses are filled with them.
10) A lot of people at the Guan Yin temple, besides every first and 15th of the Chinese months.
11) A lot of party poppers residues are seen on the floor.
12) Everywhere and anywhere can see people playing mahjong.
